Lizzy's Curriculum

During the next 2-3 years, Lizzy is going to work towards her Homeschool Diploma, for which she will have mastered the following subjects:

  • Dutch Language and Literature
    Reading List: 30 Original Works (literature)
    Writing: At least one writing assignment a month
  • English Language and Literature
    Reading List: 30 Original Works (literature)
    Writing: At least one writing assignment a month
  • Japanese Language - Basic Level
    Basic Reading and Writing skills (kanji, hiragana, katakana)
    Basic conversational skills
  • Introduction to Psychology
    "Psychology" - Henry Gleitman
  • Music
    "Music Theory for Beginners" - Emma Danes
    "Introduction to Music" - Eileen O'Brien
    Violin and piano
  • Graphical Art
    Drawing Courses at the Local School of Arts
    Online Art Tutorials
    Photography and cinematography
  • Extra: ITC
    Basic webdesign skills (html, css and java)

At the end of each year, a compilation of Lizzy's accomplishments will be printed in a book and/or portfolio, to be published at Lulu.com.

Fran's Curriculum

During the next 2-3 years we will continue to work on the following subjects with Fran:

  • Dutch Language and Literature
    Reading List: 30 Children's Books, either original or translated
    Writing: At least one writing assignment a month
  • English Language and Literature
    Reading List: 30 Children's Books, original English works only.
    Writing: At least one writing assignment a month
  • Japanese Language - Basic Level
    Basic conversational skills
  • Maths
    "Signapore Maths - Primary Mathematics"
  • World Orientation
    History and Geography
    We'll be learning from books and going on field trips
  • The Sciences
    We'll be using several books (E.g. "Usborne's Complete Book of the Human Body") and perform interesting experiments (taken from e.g. "Physical Processes")
  • Art and Culture
    Drawing Courses at the Local School of Arts
    Photography and cinematography
    We read "The Children's Book of Art" and other interesting art-books
    We'll visit musea, exhibitions and concerts, as well as cultural events when possible
  • Religious and Moral Convictions
    We'll use the Usborne Encyclopedia of World Religions, as well as Resources from the Internet

At the end of each year, a compilation of Frans's accomplishments will be printed in a book and/or portfolio, to be published at Lulu.com.
